Recent SOGG activities

In October Mike Dees from EcoLocal introduced the Local Food Network, a new initiative of the One Planet Food project which encourages food growers to swap tips, seeds, seedlings and produce using a combination of the Internet and networking meetings at events. (See reminder below about Sutton’s own local fruit and veg box scheme.)

November brought a welcome return visit by Jim Clements to give another talk about his wonderful piece of woodland in Kent.

See Mike's Photos of the November meeting.

Help Needed with S.O.G.G. -

Raffle
The monies raised from the raffle make an important contribution to SOGG funds and in order for this to continue we would welcome donations of goods for prizes.  (Any items can be given to Gilli at the monthly meetings).  Thank you for your support.

Bring and Buy
This stall at our monthly meetings also contributes to our funds to cover the hall hire, etc.  We would be grateful for donations of plants and preserves.  Unfortunately we don't have storage facilities so would be grateful if you could please take back unsold items at the end of the evening.

Editor
Our continuing cry for help with putting the newsletter together, which is very kindly continued to be done by Phil Mouncey. Each quarter this involves collating items for the newsletter from various sources, playing on the computer to get it into a word format and sending it out by email and snail mail.  Help can be provided with labels and snail mail if necessary.

Literature
Our continuing cry also for help with the literature.  Involves keeping the literature stocked up from, mainly, Soil Association and Garden Organic and bringing along a selection each monthly meeting or arranging for it to be brought along by an alternative if unable to attend.  May suit a couple of friends who could co-ordinate between them.  The amount to be transported can be whittled down to roughly a large shopping bag or two supermarket plastic bags

Other Societies: please contact Mo James for further information on other local societies, including: Benhill Crescent Horticultural Society; Epsom Garden Society; Alpine Garden Society; Ewell Horticultural Society; Stanley Road Allotment and Garden Society
